Welcome to Information and Advice on Autism

Autism Awareness

In the past 10 years or so, there has been a surge in the interest of showing the fact that you were aware of a particular disease or malady. This can be seen in many different ways, from events that take place in various communities to bumper stickers to awareness bracelets that are worn on the arm. One of the diseases that is finding a lot of favor in the eyes of those that like to show their awareness of things is autism. In fact, autism awareness is really only lacking behind such things as breast cancer.

Autism awareness can be shown in many different ways. One of the most popular things that people are using nowadays are ribbons to show that they support one particular thing or another. These ribbons for autism are multicolored and have a jigsaw pattern. You can also get bracelets which show the same design, showing that you support autism and those that have to deal with the disease in themselves or their children. There are other ways to show your awareness of this disease as well, including donating to various charities and supporting any events that are sponsored by autism awareness in your local community.

Autism has certainly been making the headlines in recent years. In fact, in the past 25 years, autism has risen sharply among those in the United States. Many people feel that this is because of increased problems with the environment and also such things as additional vaccinations that are being given to children at an early age. There is no scientific evidence to support this, however. It is interesting to note that the scientific and medical community as a whole have been unable to really pin down one particular reason why autism is on the rise.

By showing your autism awareness in the form of bracelets, ribbons or whatever you choose to use, you are not only showing that you support it, you’re helping other people to be aware of the disease as well. In this way, you may be helping parents to identify the disease at a younger age and their children which would benefit them throughout their lifetime.
